CRANE COUNTRY DAY SCHOOL

Crane Country Day School’s fifth graders studied the work of Dorothea Lange and visited the Carpinteria Arts Center to see and experience Facing Ourselves: Carpinteria.

“The class was very fortunate to spend time in the gallery with Patty to talk about her work and about the process of taking powerful portraits. We loved the show so much that we asked Patty to come to our campus to share her moving images with our entire school community! Inspired by these two women’s authentic work, the fifth grade class broke into pairs to take portraits of each other. The final photos are truly beautiful, and sharing this journey with a local artist helped our students connect to each other and to our greater community.”Tray London, Art Teacher at Crane School
